Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Black

Good intel and proper gear are the keys to victory. With the Logitech G15 keyboard, you get both. Now you can easily discover on which server your friends are playing Battlefield 2142, be notified when your World of Warcraft battleground becomes available and know exactly who’s talking in Ventrilo with the Logitech G15 keyboard’s exclusive GamePanel LCD. You can also create useful macros on the fly that play back with a single press of one of the six G keys. As every key features illuminated characters, with three levels of brightness, you can keep playing late into the night.

i had a Lycosa which recently dies, and like the back-lite keys feature. I went looking for another keyboard with this feature that was as comfortable to type on or better. Never buy a keyboard without typing on it at a store, even if you don’t buy it from that store.

The G-15 has a great LCD screen which you’ll hardly ever look at for any of the information that can be displayed out of the box or with most mods I ever checked out. The back lighting is not too shabby, and the key “etching” appears to be done from the back so your letters won’t turn into blobs of light after use like the Lycosa.

My main concern is the key action and how odd the column of “game keys” on the left are. I keep hitting them thinking that I’m striking the tab, caps or control keys. It almost seems that the main keys were made really small so that the foot print of the whole thing wouldn’t get too wide while still adding this row of extra keys that can be used for just about anything.

I like notebook style keyboards and type much better on them so Im gong to be looking elsewhere…but Logitech should be happy to hear that I’ll probably buy the new Ultrathin which types really nice and despite a reviewer discussing key lock, at the speed I type, which I think is pretty fast, I haven’t experienced on any keyboard, including the Ultra thin that I test drove.

Bottom line…this could probably be a great gaming keyboard, but gamers don’t look down at their screen, they’re too busy dodging stuff on the screen! My design recommendation is to ditch the number pad, widen the keys and “uncramp” the layout…and you can afford to make it a little bit wider. Also, I shouldn’t have to work so hard at the keys to type.

Product recommendation…for gamers, check out what Razor has to offer, leave this on the shelf.

No problems with software or drivers but beware! over time the keys will wear off and you will be unable to tell which key your typing because of the painted keys for the light to shine through ive had my keyboard for 2-3 years and now about 1/3 the keys are worn off especially the (ASDLMNCEH & ALT) keys.

4 Stars My Grandson loves it.
He especially likes the LCD display and the macro key capability. Arrived on schedule, in time for Christmas.

5 Stars Awesome Product
The keys are nice and smooth when typing, I love it. The awesome screen is great too. When I’m playing WoW it shows my character’s stats, which is cool ’cause to see it usually I have to push a button, but with the G15 keyboard all I have to do is look down. I also like how the little screen on the keyboard shows my computer’s performance. It’s nice to see how much of my RAM and CPU is being used when I’m playing WoW and Counter-Strike: Source. Also, the lit up keys are great, because sometimes I like to play at night and turn off the light in my room and with the lit up keys it’s really easy to do. Great product, keep up the good work, Logitech!!

5 Stars I love this keyboard
Not too loud, good key layout and feel. I find the LCD useful for quickly monitoring CPU and RAM usage (instead of starting up the task manager). Don’t use it for gaming much, so I can’t say about that part.

The shortcut keys are very useful, I associated mine to quickly start a DOS console, and open up folders I often go to, very practical. The 2 USB ports are useful as well.

Cons: I wish the LCD screen was in color :) Switching between “LCD programs” (like the clock, CPU+RAM monitor) is not very practical so I disable all programs but the CPU+RAM monitor. Also, none of the extra G15 functionality works when you hook it up to a KVM switch (it then acts as a basic keyboard, the LCD screen shows a big “G15″ and that’s it), none of the extra keys work via KVM.
