User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Great value for the money.
Good program for the price. My mac was disappointing until I bought this and iwork, Now I like my mac. If your a first time mac user it will suck until you figure out to hold down 2 fingers and click. Its like a right click on your PC.

4 Stars Great suite of software
I have to admit, I don’t use iDVD or Garageband much yet, but I use iPhoto quite a bit. I have almost 20,000 photos to manage, and iPhoto does a good job. I hope to use Garageband at some point after I get a new music keyboard, although that isn’t necessary.

I am disappointed with iMovie, though. They really dumbed-down its capabilities. For many people, it may be easier, if all you want to do is some minor processing and move your recorded video onto a DVD. However, they removed a lot of tools for actually creating a video presentation. To get a lot of what iMovie used to have, you either have to get the old version (can you still downgrade for free? not sure), or purchase the $300 Final Cut Express (which, of course, gives you a lot more than even old iMovie had).

Worth the $80, but there are things I would like to see Apple improve in iPhoto, as much as I like it. There are some things that are hard to manage using keyboard shortcuts, some of the interface has odd non-Mac-standard behavior, and I’ve had some issues with Smart Albums. I hope they continue to improve it, but it’s definitely worth what it costs.

5 Stars Brilliant
I am new to the Mac World. iLife has been revolutionary in my computing experience. Specifically, I am now able to actually use and enjoy the hundreds of photos and movies I have on my computer. Once again, Apple has developed something that works the way REAL people do, rather than the way developers THINK people work (ahem, Windows-based photo programs).

4 Stars iLife ‘08 Review of iWeb, iPhoto, and the iTunes conflict
iLife is a terrific suite of products - iWeb is especially simple to use and creates a surprisingly elegant websites quickly and without requiring any particular experience in web design. The new templates are well considered, and offer sufficient variety. IPhoto is an extremely good way to organize your graphic images - if you already have everything stored and organized, you can import the image to iPhoto without actually copying it from your hard drive location, thus saving you memory, and enabling you to utilize the organizational power of iPhoto. Because iTunes is constantly updating, you may find, as I did, that this suite has a conflict with iTunes. I had to reinstall iTunes from the web. This was quick and did not disrupt my library in any way. It was, however, a surprise - so, now you know.

4 Stars Another great companion to leopard and iWork
Yeah, iMovie ‘06 provides features not found in iMovie ‘08 but Apple rethought the concept so there are benefits to both (and you can download iMovie ‘06 free anyways).

Like iWork, this is a great package for almost everyone. Professionals are going to go with the pro tools but where else can you get a family bundle for this price? iPhoto alone will make the purchase worth it for most people who use a digital camera (and, who doesn’t?). I’ve never even used iWeb and I consider this a deal.

4 Stars iLife ‘08
I really love the GarageBand software!!! It is amazing!!! The only downside is that the iPhoto doesn’t run that great on a 1.5Ghz Powerbook and the iMovie software for some reason is not compatible. Other than that is good!

3 Stars iMovie 08 Was a Bummer - Everything Else Was Great
As long as you don’t buy this for iMovie 08, then this is a great product. iMovie 08 is a HORRIBLE replacement for the incredibly easy to use and powerful older iMovie. iMovie 08 may have a place in this world under a different name and as a differently focused product, but it is NOT a good movie editor.

4 Stars Good, but better to wait for iLife ‘09
Hold your money until the new version of iLife comes out and purchase that. I bought version ‘08 thinking it might be a year before the next version is on the market and now,a couple months later, I must spend more money to have the newest iLife that is due to be released soon.

5 Stars iLife is great
I am a mac lover and was a bit reticent about changing over to iLife. Once I quickly downloaded the program my fears subsided and i was thrilled with all of the changes. I wasn’t too sure how they could have improved on the product - but they did. Kudos to Apple. Another great addition to the line.

3 Stars Release Cycles and System Requirement fine print
While I did manage to get the better picture slide show encoding option I was looking for with the newer version of iDVD, it wish I had read the system requirements more closely to have known that the 08 iMovie would not install on my G4 Mac prior to purchasing this software package. That is my fault. I was a bit annoyed, but not too surprised, that Apple released iLife 09 1 month later. Since I’m still running 10.4 even the new iPhoto with face recognition would not run on my system without upgrading to 10.5, so I’ll continue to appreciate the iLife 08 sw packages which do run on my setup and make sure I read the fine print before purchasing in the future.

1 Star vista 32bit vs mac osx
yes i agree that this is the cheapest way to get vista…vista has problems to the point where people are going back to xp,save yourself the hastle and buy a mac,mac os x is extremely stable and never crashes.Apple MacBook Pro MB134LL/A 15.4-inch Laptop (2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive) for the macbook pro and Apple MacBook MB466LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, Slot Loading SuperDrive) for cheap macbook

3 Stars cheapest way to get vista
This is the cheapest way to get vista that I know of. However, of course it has all the faults that microsoft is famous for. Buy a mac and make your life easier.

Not sure if the developers version installs easily on a barebones pc, but it installed without trouble on a second partition on a macbook. In that situation at least it is not worth buying the non-developers version

I give it five out of five for price, and 1 out of five because its vista, making three out of five overall.

4 Stars Works For Me !
No Problems loading or setting up. Occasional ” Stack over flow “error encountered, but has stopped as time accumulated on operating system. Runs Smoothly and suprisingly quickly on custom built 1.25 MHZAMD w/512 MB. ram, Not sure about mother board and BIOS. Fairly standard 2004 desktop. SiS 741 Host CPU Bridge , SiS 964 PCi to LPC Bridge.
