User Ratings and Reviews
5 Stars Does version 5 Oregon trail work with windows xp?
I want to buy this for my kids new computer, but I need to know if it works with xp thank you
5 Stars We love this game
I wish there were more history games like this. My kids love it. It is buggy. The trick is to save the file often so you don’t lose all your hard travelin’ work.
5 Stars Its been years since I last played it, and it’s still the best!
The last time I played this game was around 1989 when I was in junior high, and it’s still the best game ever. My best friend and I used to play it all the time. I don’t remember if we ever beat the game, but it was always fun playing. I bought the 5th edition of this game, and just today I finally made it to Oregon! It truly is the best game ever created.
5 Stars Still A Great Game!
I always enjoyed playing this game when i was a child so i bought for my son. I have as much fun playing it as him. Still has a lot of features as the original, but also alot of improvements. Nice clean game without the violence & profanity. A must buy for any grade school kids!
5 Stars No problems, son and his cousins love it.
I read some of the 1 star reviews - I feel sorry for them, but did not have any problems. Installed on both computers in our home, laptop and desktop running xp professional. No problems ever. It does take a long time to set up, so I do it and save it for my son who is 7. He needs a little guidance, but does it mostly himself. Lots of superfluous extras, but still good. My last experience was with the original version in sixth grade 25+ years ago on an Apple. This is MUCH improved. We really enjoy the game. If you buy a second small wagon, you can carry more. Buy oxen (6 or more for one wagon, 10 for 2) to carry the weight. Do not use the Conestoga wagon - it is too heavy regardless of what the pictures show. Do not buy any furniture or any heavy iron items. Hope you enjoy the game. Make sure you use your skill points at the very beginning, they really help.

5 Stars HUGE improvement over Norton Internet Security 2008
I wrote in my review of Norton Internet Security 2008 that I used the product - but despised it. The hit to my system’s resources was just too great, and I turned much of it off as a result.
The 2009 version is MUCH faster - to the point where I am leaving all options enabled. The hit to the system appears to be minimal. The user interface is simpler and less confusing also. Big improvements all around.
Be aware that the engines underlying Internet Security 2009 and Norton 360 are reported to be different, with 360 using the older version (i.e., performance problems).
4 Stars security at a click
Norton Internet Security 2009 (3 User Edition) was easy to install and register. The security system scanned my harddrive immediately and resolving issues is quite simple. The protection offered is excellent, warning me immediately not to open an attachment if it detects the presence of a virus or worm.
5 Stars Norton Internet Security 2009 - 3 User Edition & Save & Restore 2.0
its a fantstic seurity utility procts ad has antivirus with al the thing you need if your on 24 hr a day

Spongebob Square Pants Typing

Become more productive and work more comfortably, as you learn with SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs and the entire cast of “SpongeBob Squarepants”! Tracking and progress reports help you learn and improve your skills
User Ratings and Reviews
4 Stars Excellent
sponge bob is currently popular with the kids and this utilises that to help educate them, great
1 Star stupid interface, won’t work on os x
On OS X 10.3, it worked when we installed it and has refused to run since then. No customer support we can find. I don’t feel bad criticizing them because encoresoftware.com, listed in their troubleshooting guide, isn’t even on the web any more. Why are they selling this crap in the Apple Store?
And the interface design is laughably bad. It took us quite a while to find the lessons–they’re under “Typing Tournament”
5 Stars A fun typing game
My eight year old daughter loves this game. This game teachs kids enough basic skills of typing but parents still need to be involved to make sure the kids use the right fingers.
1 Star won’t run on current Mac OS X 10.5.1 (Leopard)
Couldn’t get it to run AT ALL on recently purchased MacBook with 2GB of RAM and updated OS.
5 Stars Good product
My 8 yr old received this as a requested Christmas present. He is very happy with it, although he says “it is kinda hard.” He is, however, making improvements in his typing.

WordPerfect Office X3 Home and Student Edition

Corel WordPerfect Office X3 Home & Student Edition Version 2008 has all the tools you need to create great looking documents, spreadsheets and slide show presentations. This complete suite also includes WordPerfect Lightning Beta, a digital notebook that makes it easier than ever to collaborate with others and reuse information, ideas and images.
User Ratings and Reviews
4 Stars Reliable and Easy to Use
I have always preferred wordperfect and quatropro to excel and I think the latest versions are small improvements on the old versions but probably have options that are valuable to a more sophisticated user. I just like the logical simplicity of the products and their ease of use and the modest price.
1 Star Even customer support couldn’t make this work
I have used WordPerfect products for nearly 20 years without any problems whatsoever. I bought WordPerfect X3 Student and Home Edition and loaded it. When I tried to run it, I kept getting a message that said that the software was not install correctly (no explanation about how or why). I downloaded the appropriate service packs and patches, but it still wouldn’t work. Several calls to customer support–all of whom were VERY RUDE–and several hours later, I still have no functioning WordPerfect. More than help, I got lectures about how all phone support was fee based. They tried to help a little, but none of their suggestions worked. I have paid nearly a hundred dollars for a software package that doesn’t even start. Learn from my mistake.
4 Stars Most of it works
A fun new twist on the classic Mousetrap game, but the pile of teacups seems to not fall over unless you drop two balls at once. Kind of a bummer since that stops the chain reaction deal cold.
5 Stars Still the best word processor
I have a 23 year history of using Word Perfect, having purchased 4.1, 6.0, 6.1, 7.0, 8.0, 9 and 10. However, when I recently purchased a new computer for the family, the manufacturer did not offer a pre-loaded Word Perfect, so we began using a competitor’s word processing product; everyone in the family is well versed in using the competitor’s product, so it was not an issue of unfamiliarity; that being said, my kids begged for a Vista-friendly version of Word Perfect to replace the competitor’s product on our home computer. This version was a no-hassle, quick installation on a Windows Vista-based (name brand) computer with an Intel Core Duo processor and one gigabyte of RAM. It has worked seamlessly with older Word Perfect files and also a competitor’s files, though this version did not convert the competitor’s latest version files. The only minor quirk in the installation was that the program would not autorun from a DVD-ROM drive, but it loaded perfectly from a DVD+R recordable drive. Installation was fast, and the kids have effortlessly picked up using new features on the lastest version of their favorite word processor. To give you an example of why I like this product . . .so many of it’s operations are so EASY to use. Often I can do formatting changes in one click that the competitor’s product requires three or four steps to do. This remains a solid product, and works fine on our Intel based machine running Vista. New features enhance what was already a solid product. Thank goodness for Corel and WordPerfect.
