User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars SIMS IS GREAT
Sims is a great game. People have there own opinions. I would have to say, you need time to kill when playing this game, but this expansion pack is great because it adds a new life age to the kids growing up and you can move them to the university. its great.

5 Stars Toga… toga… TOGA… TOGA!
With the University expansion pack, our old friend, Sims 2, goes to an all new, strange place: college.

There’s a lot of new stuff added to the game with this pack. Heck, it’s practically a game all on its own! You get a new life-stage for your Sims (young-adult), new aspirations (including ones like “First Woo-Hoo!”), eleven majors your Sim can pick from, fraternities, dorms, campus hang-out spots, places where you can work part time, all new gizmos and doo-dads, etc, etc!

Best of all, when you graduate and your Sim enters the working world, they will almost certainly be hired at the fourth or fifth level of their career! Plus you’ll already have a great many skills (especially if you raised your Sim from an infant), and friends, so once you get out into the “real” world, you should have no problem advancing.

There’s no down side at all to this game (well, except for the fact that I’ve never managed to get my Sim into a frat or sorority. Probably because, like me, they’re pretty anti-social. I am a gamer, after all). There’s all the usual Sims elements we know and love plus all the extras! A total win for “Sims 2″ players everywhere!

5 Stars Awesome & Addicting
I must say this game is extremely addicting…and after selling my pc and getting myself a macbook I will have to say I don’t regret it at all!! it runs smooth and fast!

5 Stars LOVE IT
I am always happy to buy any of THE SIMS games from amazon. I am on a MAC they are not easy to find in a store but you can always find them here. I own all the SIMS 2 expansions and single stories, it is my favorite game for the computer, this one is awesome you get elevators and you go to college, you can make a frat house, go to the campus get a cell phone, a mp3 player, really really a fun game then they all are!

5 Stars Does it work on intel based macs?
I love the sims 2 even though I only have one expansion pack which is PETS. I want to get university horribly bad but on he cover it doesent have the little universal ensignia on it, unlike some of the other expnsions such as PETS, OPEN FOR BUSINESS, and SEASONS. that ensignia means that the game works on intel chip based macs. So yet this problem leaves me sitting like a hopeless computer idot. please comment back!!

5 Stars Love it!
I bought this game for my husband and he won’t leave it alone. He loves it.

5 Stars The Best Macintosh Computer Game Ever
I wood Buy This Game Its is amazing or mac, It runs like nothing you have ever seen before on my 2.4 ghz 1 gb of ram imac and runs ever well on white 2.4 ghz 2 gb of ram macbook. Buy you will love it!!!

4 Stars Great game play, but should have been longer.
Everything about this game is amazing except how long it takes to win. Yes there is the multiplayer, but I still think that it should have been longer.

5 Stars Great Game, Lousy Shipping
The product is amazing and I will probably start playing it in the next few minutes. The problem was that I was shipped the wrong game! I was shipped Civilization IV instead. When I tried to return it, the website would not respond to my emails and would not answer their phone!!!! I tried for almost 2 weeks to return it and finally read in their return policy that it had to be returned within 10 days in order to trade it for the correct game. By then it was too late. It was sent from Go Gamer.com, of which I will never buy another product from again. So the game is amazing, but I didn’t buy the actual game from you. I bought it off the Apple website.

4 Stars A New Spin on an Old Classic
I owned both COD the first, and COD2, and was a little skeptical when getting this if I’d experience anything new, or just the same old maps and game dressed up in new graphics. This is not the case at all; COD4 is a totally new game if not a totally new concept obviously. The graphics have certainly been improved but you’ll need a pretty powerful card to get the most out of it IMO. Gameplay is very realistic and the shear number and type of armaments, maps and characters are great, if a bit intimidating at first. Unless you’re a total gaming stud, expect to get your butt kicked the first couple days of playing this game until you get used to the physics and its quirks.

Many aspects of this game have added realism, such as the ability to call in CAS choppers, gillie suits for snipers, different types of camouflage for weapons, different weapon behaviors depending on whether you have certain handles or silencers attached, knives, etc. Also, it has the interesting twist in the MP variant that as you get better and acquire more kills from game to game, you unlock more weapons and weapon options (like advanced scopes or stun grenades) for yourself. Then as your skills and weapons available both get better, the effect tends to snowball a bit and you can really start kicking tail when you get up into the officer ranks. :-)

Couple new game types alongside the classic DM, TDM, Domination, etc… basically all variations on Search and Destroy. One where you locate a constantly updating HQ, capture and defend it, another where you have one bomb that constantly gets “swiped” by the other team, each in an attempt to blow up their specific objective, and the traditional Search and Destroy model where you just switch sides, taking turn attacking and defending the same target locations. The Single Player game is very slick and life-like with a variety of different mission types and locations around the world, and good lead-in / lead-out video sequences.

My one beef with this game is there seems to be some sort of inherent lag in the online game where even if you’re ping is good, there can be a slight delay in the actions you take, resulting in quick and constant death. AFAICT it has more to do with how many people are on the server than the average ping. Servers with more than about 15 or 16 players can get this problem a lot and it will degrade game play in that case.

All in all definitely worth the money if you’re a long time MOHAA / COD fan.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great game for the strategists of the world
My title says it all, basically. This is not the type of game for those who just want to quickly build up an army and crush the opposition. This game requires a good amount of patience, but for anyone who likes to relive history, and build your own custom empire, or just to play a game that plays somewhat like chess, but also like a war game, this is for you. A very fun game for those who appreciate strategy.

1 Star Would be good if it didn’t crash
Even with the latest patch from Aspyr this game was unplayable for me. It crashed (requiring a reboot) every 10 minutes.

During those 10 minutes the game seemed like it would be fun, but it was simply too frustrating to try to play through the crashes.

5 Stars First CiV game and love it.
I bought this game over steam and have spent countless hours playing it as well as the mods it shipped with (not sure if that is offered with amazon). If you like turn-based RTS games this game is for you. If you enjoy enjoy games like starcraft, empire earth, and age of empires but prefer building rather than warfare then this game is even more for you!

Games are often very long, and it has a pretty steep learning curve. I for one have to play on an easier difficulty to have fun and still am not very skilled. But i love the game. It is a very details and in depth-game. I have bought it twice, once over direct2drive and then again over steam because i was not happy with my D2D purchase. Will probably end up buying this game a third time so i no longer have to run boot camp to run it. If you like the things i mentioned about this game I sincerely suggest you either buy it or play a demo; you will love this game.

4 Stars Same Old Civilization.
Civ4 is pretty much the same thing as Civ3. Nothing but hype. Buy Civ3 and save money. The game is very addictive so be careful, you still have to go to work and school, the kids still have to be fed. Once you drop a Nuclear bomb the tiny map in the corner goes haywire, that sucks. As the game progresses it slows down. Oh and Aspyr does a bad job converting the game for Macintosh computers. A lot of the hints that pop up are obviously meant for Windows computers. I am no computer wiz, but installing it was a hassle, only because i didn’t know that i had to copy the game files from the CD to my HD. The installation instructions said nothing about doing that.

1 Star couldn’t load it on a maacbook 2006 laptop
It might be ok for windows but it didn’t load on my macbook without significant problems.

4 Stars Great game - for a select few
I love this game.

It brings out the best of the old game I played on my Mac Plus. At the same time, it adds great detail and motion that the old Macs could never acheive.

It keeps the play simple, which is great because I have never been able to keep up with games that demand multiple button play. Just a few keys and the mouse. It also manages to modernize and add some more options without the need for the above mentioned extra button work.

Now the bad news,

The box says it can be used with a G4 700MHz Mac or above. Most reviews and my experience say that it takes more power to enjoy the game. The box actually recommends a G5 iMac or PowerMac. I would agree, I have no problem with the game, but I am running a G5 PowerMac.

The problem with this is that most people with a high-end G4 PowerMac or above that can use this game have already upgraded to OS 10.5 Leopard. And this game will not work on 10.5 Leopard. You must use 10.3 or 10.4, I had to load 10.3 on an external HD. But not everybody has the time, money or know-how to do this.

Please also note that this is not a Universal Binary game, so it will not work on any Intel-based Macs of any kind.

3 Stars Hardest game ever in Simcity history!
This game is hardest game in history. Every time, I tried to build a town I failed, I have no money, I was fired from the office. You have to make town beautiful such as place open grass, park, etc. which makes game even harder.

If you have a Mac that runs Mac OS 9, I recommend to play Simcity 3000. But if you want a very hard game, then Simcity 4 is for you!

1 Star Not For MacBook
Sim City 4 is an awesome game, I’ve been playing it for years on my pc and would play for hours. Recently I got a mac and found out that there was also a mac version, so I bought, installed it, and was EXTREMELY disappointed. There are tons of bugs in the game, some graphics flicker a lot and there is a huge delay time between when you click a button in the game and it actually does what you want it to do…it’s very frustrating, even with all the visual effects on their lowest performance possible, the game still runs unbelievably slow and is not worth 60 dollars AT ALL. The game still runs slow even with the patch released. I’ll be playing this game on my pc and returning the mac version.

1 Star Useless will not run on Mac OS !
What a waste of money! Will not run on OS 10.4 or 10.5, customer service and website could not help me. Runs for 5 minutes and gets slower and slower and slower and then freezes. I have more than the recommended minimum requirements! Do not buy if you plan on running it on a Mac.

4 Stars Its ok
I thought it would be more fun than this. I was wrong. I thought I could make my own buildings, etc. But that is not true. Hour & hours of frustration. I put the game away. I couldn’t even figure out how to add the city to my Sims 2 game that everyone brags about:(

5 Stars We Love Pets
I bought this after christmas for myself (I am a college student) and my sisters (twin 11-year-old girls) immediately fell in love with it. The difference in the amount of care that cats and dogs need is a good feature, because people who are less experience with the game (like my sisters) can have cat, while people like me, who are more experianced, can get a dog which requires more care. The addition of pets like the womrat are also great, especially since you can now name them which we were unable to do in the original sims. The ability to customize a dog or cat’s features is an awesome idea and it makes the game much more interesting. There aren’t too many new objects but the ones they added are still good. Overall it’s a great expansion pack and I’m really glad that I got it because as a person who has been playing sims for nine years, it puts a little spice back into a game which has become way too easy for me, but is still easy enough for younger players.

5 Stars Great Game
The Sims just keeps getting better and better, I can spend hours playing and not even realize how much time has passed!

4 Stars A lot of fun if you are tired of home life
I find it difficult to run a business and also manage my home, but if you have single sims, or are just tired of being home everyday, you would probably find business ownership fun! If you really want to stay home, you can open a home business, but it’s kind of annoying to have strangers popping in when you really need a shower and the baby just barfed everywhere. My sims are very domesticated;-) However, I have opened a flower shop, a day spa, and a home food service business, and have found them fun to operate:-)

3 Stars Love Sims, OfB is ok
It’s a little harder to get going in Open for Business than I expected. I own Sims and several expansions and I didn’t feel this one was as intuitive as the others to get started. Once I got going, it became easier. It seems to take a while to earn badges and I wasn’t entirely sure at first how to earn them, but again, once I got going it wasn’t too bad. Remember that if you open a business on your home lot, LOCK the house doors so that customers are not coming in whenever they please (very annoying). Also remember to buy an Open/Closed sign or people will always be coming over. In my neighborhood with 10 families, I only have 1 with a home business. It’s taken time to figure it out, but it’s working out. I wish there were a few more things I could do with the business, but this is a neat dimension to add to the Sims.

3 Stars good, not great
i thought that this was a good game to play, it was fairly inexpensive and you get to make a living off your own store, that you either get to run, or work at, instead of sending your sim away for the day then to come back with a pay check… you actually earned the money that you recieve. I think that some things are really annoying though, because you end up spending much more on your employees and such, and barly make any money at all cause no one will buy your items if they are too expensive, so you have to have another job inorder to make enough to live. And the days go by so fast, you barely have any time to run the store, in between your sims other needs such as hunger and hygene etc.. Also, the customers get mad at really stupid things and end up never coming back and give your store a bad reputation. When i was playing, one of my lawn decorations (a flamingo) was tipped over, and they kept going into histerics about that, or if your trash is full they get really annoyed.

this also is very entertaining though because you are able to run a restaurant, a salon/hair dresser place, an entertainment spot, and pretty much any type of store you want. you can sell anything that is available in the buy mode. this expantion pack also comes with a lot of new objects, clothing, and hair styles, which are fun to use, such as costumes they can wear, a lot of shelving to put goods on, etc.

over all i think that this game was fun, being able to run your own business, but there were a few things that could be better.

4 Stars Fun games at a great price.
I got this as a gift for my girlfriend, who had tried the demo’s and really liked them. This is a great buy and is almost guaranteed fun for any and everyone!

4 Stars Great combo gift
I am a big fan of Diner Dash and although I enjoyed Diner Dash 2 more they both are great games and easy to learn. The levels do get pretty tough and become challenging which can be great fun for some and frustrating for others. All in all, a great buy and great entertainment.

4 Stars Diner Dash is a Hoot for Kids and Adults
I bought this for my 13 year old niece who was addicted to the online game. We’ve played several times together and it is so much fun! The more you play, the more you want to play. Good, clean video game fun - finally!

4 Stars Lots o fun
I am still playing this game almost everyday along with my son. We enjoy it greatly. I would recomend this game.

4 Stars my opinion

Crazy Machines 1 5

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Fantastic for everyone
This is a great program - my 13 year old loves it, and it came in very handy earlier this year when my child had to create a Rube Goldberg device for science class.

5 Stars Crazy Machines
Crazy Machines 1.5 Great product! I had no trouble interesting my grandchildren in this and it is an excellent learning tool.

4 Stars Crazy Machines
I purchased this software for my 8 yr old granddaughter. It was simple enough for her to immediately began playing it and yet I can see that it has complexities for her to learn. I look forward to seeing how she progresses in her ‘rube goldberg’ creations.

5 Stars Great Game
THis game is awesome. Great graphics. Amazon shipped it fast and in great condition.

5 Stars Fun and Educational
This game is both entertaining and educational. The kids have fun with it and it does require and teach problem solving. A lot of basic science concepts in it to be considered educational as well.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Lots of fun! Get the stuff packs.
This game is truly amazing–especially in the behaviors of the people and the pets. Very lifelike! My only disappointment is the very limited selection of furniture and accessories to choose from to fill the houses. I would definitely recommend getting the stuff packs to supplement the game. There are sites online where you can download new objects, but I have had a lot of difficulty getting most of them to install into the game on my mac.

3 Stars Where’s the Mac support, Aspyr?
Sims 2 Pets is an endearing expansion for the Sims franchise, but Mac users beware: although Aspyr has released a patch for the Windows platform to fix the game’s many bugs, there is currently (4/6/07) no patch available for the Mac. Errors include taking a puppy or kitten to work if you’re interacting with them when the carpool shows up, children floating when chatting with each other, and — when your pets retire from a job — your Sims are silently demoted in their career path.

Please release a Mac patch, Aspyr.

5 Stars Too Cute!
Pets is a great addition to the Sims 2 experience. You can adopt your pet or “make” your own. They need to be fed, given attention, love, etc. They learn tricks, play with other pets, bring in mice from the yard and destroy furniture if bored, just like the real world. Very fun!

4 Stars Great Game
like the game. But watch your memory or it will go slow. And be careful of what you download-may slam your game. And Only download a little at a time. And keep notes of the file names in case you need to remove it.

4 Stars Good and Bad
The game altogether adds more to the Sims2

And I although I didn’t have any problems installing them, the pets are way too time consuming. You can’t have a dog and a child in the same family because they both take up so much of your attention. Another thing I didn’t like about it was the fact that you can’t control your pet. For example, I had an adopted pet, who wouldn’t eat pet food, as a result of that, he was almost always starving.

This game is good if you like single families but anymore then that and it’ll be very hard for you to keep up.
